The Life & Legacy Of
Senior Pastor Alphonso Rice
Alphonso Rice, native of Long Branch, NJ ever so gently slipped away on the morning of December 10, 2023. He was an incredible man born to the late Mr. Samuel Harris and the late Evangelist Grace Rice on Saturday, April 4, 1959. He was simply the most loving, humble, man that you can encounter. His words were very few, but certainly impacting.
Pastor Alphonso attended Long Branch School systems. Immediately upon graduation, he enlisted into the Marine Corps and was stationed in Parris Island Marine Corps in Parris Island, South Carolina where he faithfully served his country and received an honorable discharge.
Pastor Al attended the Deliverance Evangelistic Center ministry, founded by one of God’s greatest generals in the Lord’s church, the late Apostle Arturo Skinner. For 47 years, he served under the tutelage of his father in the Gospel, the late Apostle Herbert Sneed. On August 29th of 2016, Pastor Alphonso was called by God to Pastor Asbury Park Deliverance Evangelistic Center where he faithfully committed his life of service these past seven years.
Pastor Al was the epitome of a servant’s heart. If there was a need, he would break off from what he was working on to help someone in need. He appreciate the opportunity to make someone’s day easier and special.
Pastor Alphonso is predeceased by his mother and father, Samuel Harris, and Evangelist Gracie Rice, one brother Wayne Proctor, four sisters, Eloise Harris, Theresa Ware, Diane Rice, and youngest Sister Alvera.
Pastor Alphonso and his lovely wife, Co-Pastor Prophetess Tonja C. Rice had been married for 31 years and seven months. Born into this matrimony is one obedient loving son, Prophet Joshua Alonso Rice. They are left to honor his legacy and cherish the memory of his life on earth.
Also cherishing his memory: one Sister, Sherry Williams, four brothers: Samuel Proctor, Ulysses Rice, Brian Rice, Arthur Rice; two sisters-in-love, Sonja Johnson (Robert) and Yolanda Brown (Jadus); Favorite Mother-in-love, Florence Brown; One Aunt, Bertha Young. Pastor Al had many godchildren and spiritual children whom he loved so ever dearly, a host of family and friends. He is missed indeed, but he will never be forgotten in our hearts.
