Kenyetta (Kia) Shaviz Swift, age 49, passed away peacefully on Friday October 20, 2023 after a tough battle with cancer. Born on January 28, 1974 in Detroit, Michigan, she was the daughter of Earvie Mae Swift and Willie Swift.
Kia’s love for her family was evident in every aspect of her life. She was a devoted mother, and cherished friend. Her warmth and kindness touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her radiant smile, her comforting presence, and her boundless love will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who had the honor of sharing her life. She had a passion for cooking. Her kitchen was a place of laughter, love, and family ties. Though Kia’s battle with cancer was a fierce one, she faced it with grace and strength, inspiring all who witnessed her courage. She taught us all the importance of cherishing every moment and the value of family bonds. As we say, “Talk to you later” to this remarkable woman, let us remember her not for the battles she fought but for the love and passion that she shared with us all.
She is survived by her three children, Timothy (Tim) Swift, Anthony (Ant) Swift, and Nyasia (Nyny) Grimes, her twin brother Kenyatta (Ken) Swift, brothers Ryan Thomas and Ernest Thomas, grandchild Tytan Swift, nieces and nephews, best friend, god children, and extended family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased in death by her sisters Terry Hopkins, Cynthia Milton, and grandchild Timothy Swift Jr.
