Dorothy Mae Roundtree was born on June 21, 1928 in Millen GA. She was the eighth child of
eleven children of Mattie Roberts and Lemon Tucker. Dorothy grew up in Millen GA and was
united in marriage to John Willie Roundtree, and out of this union they had two children, Bobbie
Jean Roundtree and Benny Lee Roundtree. After her husband's untimely death, Dorothy moved
with her two children to Red Bank NJ.
Shortly after moving to Red Bank, Dorothy started her own business, Roundtree’s Rooming and
Board, which she ran for over forty years. Years later, she became a licensed foster parent and
took care of foster children for approximately twenty years. Despite her busy schedule, she
always made time for her family and friends. Family was very important to her. She enjoyed
cooking, going to yard sales on Saturdays, and church on Sundays. Dorothy was a devout
Christian who loved the lord dearly. She was a member of Union Baptist Church in Middletown,
NJ. She also attended Pilgram Baptist Church and Mt. Zion Church in Red Bank.
Dorothy made her transition on August 21, 2020 peacefully at Riverview Medical Center Red
Bank, NJ. She was 92 years old. She was predeceased by her daughter Bobbie Jean Roundtree,
ten siblings Joe Roberts, Fred Roberts, Cleveland Roberts, John Roberts, Nellie Jones, Mary
Griffin, Albertha Jackson, Ella Mae, Clyde Bowman, and Ruby. She leaves behind to Cherish
her memory her son, Benny Roundtree, seven grandchildren Jermaine Roundtree, NJ; Juan
Osborne Roundtree, NJ; Lekiesha Wilson, NJ; Racquel Morton, NC.; Candice Roundtree, NJ;
Jerome Roundtree, NJ; and Darquisha Oglesby, GA. Twenty great-grandchildren, special
nephew Crook, GA; as well as a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
