Barbara Mona Hicks, 64, was born November 13, 1956 to the late Alberta Johnson in Long Branch, NJ.  She departed this life at Riverview Hospital in Red Bank, NJ. on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at the age of 64.

Barbara was raised up and became a long-time resident of  Red Bank where she was educated in the Red Bank Public School System.  Barbara was known for her shyness and her beautiful smile.  She always loved reaching out to help others.  She was free-spirited and was the life of any party. Barbara was known for her nurturing spirit; she earned the nickname, “Nanny”.  

On July 31, 1976, Barbara was blessed with the love of her life, a beautiful baby girl she named Sharon Charlettle.  

Preceding her in death was her mother, Alberta Johnson, and siblings, James Hicks, Wanda and Lorenzo Johnson.

She leaves to cherish her memory a dedicated daughter, Sharon Charlettle Hicks of Keansburg, NJ, two grand-daughters, Shakiera and Tiera Hicks,  one grand-son Kason Preston and  one great grand-daughter, Da’Miyah Hinton all of Keansburg, NJ; three sisters, Sonia Black (Walter) of Plainfield, NJ; Rita Hicks and Theresa Langley  (Kenneth) of Long Branch, NJ;  one brother, Len Johnson (Yasmin) of Lawrenceville, GA; Sixteen nieces and nephews Thirty-eight great nieces and nephews and seven great-great nieces and nephews and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Barbara will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
